What kind of flowers can I grow under a lemon tree?

I have a Lemon tree in a cutout circle on a patio. I'd like to grow something, ground cover or flowers under the lemon tree but I haven't had much luck with anthing even though it gets plenty of sun. Is there anything that will grow under a lemon tree?

Try sedum, or creeping thyme.
