From running errands for neighbors to providing an understanding ear for his family, Donald Gilliam could be called on for help. "He was outspoken, outgoing," longtime friend Glenda Carr said. "He was a caring person. He was just there for people"Mr. Gilliam died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010. He was 63.

Wooden toy project spreads holiday joy

It looked like the North Pole on Christmas Eve: rows of dinosaur pull toys in pastel colors, shelves filled with xylophones and doll-sized rocking chairs, a box stuffed with wooden bulldozers with blades that really work.
