I heard somewhere that they use a male voice for Edward in the audiobooks. Is this true?

No. The versions I listened to were narrated by Ilyana Kiduchin. (I know the last name is mispelled, sorry)
It might be true if they have another version for different countries. I have only heard the american ones, so if they've crossed over to England, they might have a different narrator or different set of narrators. If you want to listen to a book with more than one narrator (so you have male and female narrated parts) look for one that says full cast.
