Question by Coolio: What do you think is the reason most Turkish writers have immigrated to a foreign country?

Many Turkish writers, for example Nazim Hikmet and Ozkan Mert immigrate to other countries such as Sweden, or Russia. Why do you think this is?

Read Orhan Pamuk's "Snow", and you may get an idea..
It has been pretty hard from time to time in Turkey to write about certain things, in a country with a lot of ethnic and religious / political conflict.

PS Orhan Pamuk has not emigrated, but his book Snow will give you some clues as to why some writers may have left Turkey and live abroad.
